From Backyard Makeover to Green Cities of the Future: The Art of Landscape Design

The recent snowstorm and freeze left a lot of devastation behind. Our backyards and gardens are no exception. How many of us look out of the window and see a grim view of gray-white lawn, broken trees and wilted flowerbeds and shrubs. Some of us even had to sacrifice parts of our fence to keep ourselves warm. This trauma will stay with us for a long time and there is no better way to heal than start a new chapter. One couldn’t think of a better time to do a complete backyard makeover and planting new greenery to recover from the consequences of this natural disaster. Thankfully there are people like Hanna Bass, lead landscape designer and the CEO of Happy Gardens of Austin, who can give your garden a new life and make it even more beautiful than it used to be.

– How did you become a landscape designer?

– I was 19 when I fell in love with the process of creating something real and tangible for people, like a Garden. It is such an exciting feeling when I can convert someone’s abstract and ‘raw’ ideas into a happy place for them and their families. I couldn’t have been more fortunate with my choice because I have been doing design for more than 20 years now and it’s been keeping me inspired like in the very beginning.

– How does the landscape design process work?

Oh, with Happy Gardens of Austin, it is simple. We schedule an initial consultation on your site. Then we can discuss all your dreams/thoughts/ideas as to your future garden. If you decide to proceed, you will get an estimate for the project right during the meeting. We have a flat-rate design fee depending on the size of your property.

Let’s say you decide to go ahead. Our specialists will take all necessary measurements before we start CREATING (3D rendering is included). We are also excited to share a new bonus service with our customers which is a dynamic 3D walkthrough of your future garden.
